Bacher Irish Terriers

1) Are Irish Terriers non-shedding and allergy frienly?

Irish Terriers do not shed and they are very low on dander which makes them a great house pet.  They are known to be allergy friendly but every allergic person is different. As a general rule however very few dog-allergic people have problems with an Irish Terrier.

 2) Are Irish Terriers good with children?

The Irish Terrier is definatly kid-friendly!  They are very fun-loving and always happy to oblidge a child in play.  As with any dog, it is important that the puppy be taught to respect the child as an authority and not as an equal on the family totem pole.

3) Do Irish Terriers make good watch dogs?

 That all depends what you mean by a watch dog.  He will probably bark when someone comes around but his attitude will more or less be, "Look, there is someone here to play with me!"  They are not aggressive so if you are looking for a possessive guard I would recommend a German Shepherd,  Rottweiler, or something down that line.

4)Are they obedient?

Irish Terriers do quite well in obedience trials and often even take first place.  As with any dog, consistency is the key.  They are very smart and a consistent trainer can teach an Irish Terrier to be very obedient and also do many tricks.
